Trudeau failing Steel and Aluminum Workers

March 18, 2018

Donald Trump announced import tariffs on steel and aluminum with initial exemptions for Canada and Mexico.

These temporary exemptions are contingent on the successful renegotiation of NAFTA.

Justin Trudeau’s 2018 budget contained no new policies that will help Canadian steel and aluminum workers deal with U.S. protectionist policies and trade disruptions.

It is unacceptable that Justin Trudeau unveiled a federal budget that doesn’t contain a contingency plan if NAFTA is terminated or promote policies that make Canada a more attractive place to invest and do business.

If Canada isn’t pen for business, then fewer people in Washington will value maintaining NAFTA in its current form.

Trudeau needs to stand up for Canadian steel and aluminum workers!
